How it's built

The DataMuster in-field automated livestock management system is made up of four key elements: DataHub, Sensors, Cattle Handling Equipment and Power Systems. Details for each item of equipment are listed below. It's possible to use equipment that you already have but we need to ensure that it is both compatible and meets minimum specifications to ensure we maximise the ability to automatically record cattle weights.
To get started with a self-build or pre-fabricated unit, see the required items below and contact us for more information.

1
DATAHUB

The DataHub controls and manages the system it is able to receive and transmit sensor data, run automated data processing, manage the solar power and provide a range of connectivity.
2
SENSORS

The sensors include weight information from weigh bars and an RFID antenna and reader.
3

CATTLE HANDLING
The system is built on traditional cattle handling equipment that provide a simple and effective mechanism to manage cattle access to water, the basic system includes two portable panels, two spear gates, some race bows and a platform that sits on top of the weigh bars.
4

POWER SYSTEMS

To operate in remote locations the power is generated by a solar panel with a deep cycle battery to store electricity so the system can keep running overnight and if there are a few overcast days.
